Macrozonaris comeback continues
Posted by webmaster on Thursday, July 20 2006

Nicolas Macrozonaris ran two more 100m races this past Tuesday in Montreal, at the Ville St-Laurent track.

He ran a 10.32 seconds (0.0 m/s) semi-final and won the final in 10.36 seconds (0.1 m/s).

A slight cramp in the final slowed down what looked to be a very fast time.  Macrozonaris' preparations continue for the Canadian Championships in early August in Ottawa.

Macrozonaris runs a 200m in Sherbrooke, Kimberly Hyacinthe breaks Canadian Youth 200m record
Posted by webmaster on Friday, July 7 2006

Nic Macrozonaris competed in the 200m tonight in Sherbrooke, Quebec, winning his heat in a time of 21.59 seconds.  The wind was 0.0 m/s.

Running out of lane 8, he exploded out of the blocks and cruised home.  His end of race conditioning is coming along as well, and he may run a 200m again in Halifax this Sunday at the Aileen Meagher track meet, where he is also to run the 100m.

Coach Daniel St-Hilaire and his team also watched as Kimberly Hyacinthe ran very well tonight, as she broke the Canadian Youth 200m record.  She crossed the finish line in a time of 23.88 seconds, with a wind reading of 0.0 m/s.

Kimberly's time broke the record previously held by Carlene Muir of Toronto, who did it in 24.09 seconds at a meet in Utah in 2004.

Solid outing in Ottawa for Macrozonaris
Posted by webmaster on Sunday, July 2 2006

Nicolas Macrozonaris was on the track for three races today in Ottawa, taking up one of the open lanes at the Ontario track and field championships.

He ran wind-assisted times of 10.27, 10.25 and a wind legal 10.34 to win the 100m final.

This was only the second outing of the season for Macrozonaris, who has been nursing a leg injury since January.  In his first races two weeks ago in Sherbrooke, he ran times of 10.49 and 10.51.

Similar to Sherbrooke he got out to great starts and good leads today only to see his competitors close the gap by race end.  Unlike Sherbrooke however he did not lose his lead and the race on this day- a good sign that his conditioning is improving.

That the times run so far this summer are not close to the best performances of his career is a secondary issue at this point; the priority is a return to full health.

Macrozonaris will continue to run locally for the time being, scheduled to run a couple races in the coming week including Halifax on the 9th.
